Syllabus is a useful tool for students that provide an overview of the course structure. It outlines all the essential information that students need to know before the beginning of the academic session. The syllabus includes the details on topics, subtopics, practicals, experiments, project work that students have to study in the academic year.

Along with it, the syllabus also contains the time duration and number of periods required to finish each chapter. Therefore, the CBSE Syllabus provides crucial information that every student must know. It also helps in students’ exam preparation. In this article, we have listed down the benefits of knowing the syllabus and how students can make the most of it for their studies.

Advantages of Knowing the Syllabus

Students must go through the following benefits of the syllabus and use them during their studies.

1) Provide Information on Course Structure

Students get to know what all topics they have to study during the academic year. They get a good idea of topics and sub-topics they have to cover in each subject. Knowing the syllabus right at the beginning of the session helps students plan their studies in an organised and structured way, so they don’t have to rush and mug up the things during the exam.

2) Help in Organised Study

By knowing the syllabus, students can easily prioritise the topics. They get to know which chapter to study first and in which order they should complete the chapters. Also, it helps them to know the marks weightage of each chapter/unit. So, students start focusing on those chapters which have higher weightage and devote more time to them. Thus, they study in an organised way. They have an idea of what topics they have covered and what they have to still study.

3) Help in Creating the Study Plan

After knowing the syllabus, students can easily create a study plan for themselves. They can either create a weekly study plan or monthly, depending on their choice. Especially for higher classes such as Class 9 and onwards, the syllabus really becomes vast. So, creating the study plan helps in completing the syllabus on time. Also, it divides the syllabus into smaller topics for daily study. For example, students of Class 11 will go mad by seeing the syllabus at one go and worry about how to complete it. So, for them dividing the CBSE Syllabus for Class 11 by creating the study plan will help.

4) Provide Information about Internal Assessment

The syllabus contains information on internal assessment. Students can get the list of experiments, practicals and project work mentioned in the syllabus. Also, the evaluation scheme for internal assessment is provided by the board. It helps students to score high marks in the internal exams and increase their overall percentage.

5) Helps in Revision

During the revision, students mostly get confused about which topic they have revised and which they need to go through again. In this situation, the syllabus plays a crucial role. Students should keep the hard copy of the syllabus with them while doing the revision. They should tick mark the topics which they have revised. In this way, they can easily keep a track of the topics revised.

We hope that after knowing the benefits of the syllabus, students will start referring to the syllabus and finish the syllabus before the annual exams.
